About Kayla

Dental school. Cancer. Real estate. Always right where I’m supposed to be.

None of it went to plan, and all of it led here: helping people find the right kind of help for one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

I have a degree in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry. I was about a year into dental school, on track toward orthodontics, when I was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma.

I came back to Nashville for treatment. During that season, my then-fiancé and I bought our first home. That’s when I fell in love with the real estate transaction, and I realized I wasn’t going back to the path I’d mapped out.

The critical thinking that made me strong in a lab carried straight into negotiations and contracts. Every variable matters. Every detail has a consequence. Preparation is everything.

As of July 2026, I’ve assisted in 185+ Middle Tennessee transactions and more than $100 million in transaction volume. Along the way I’ve built real relationships with lenders, inspectors, attorneys, title companies and agents. I know who does excellent work. I don’t take fees or anything else from lenders, inspectors, attorneys or title companies. The only referral compensation we receive is for agent matchmaking, which is industry standard and paid brokerage to brokerage after the deal closes.

Why I built BuyUnrepped

I kept meeting capable buyers who wanted to find homes themselves. Their choices were going in blind or paying for representation they didn’t want. BuyUnrepped is the option I wished existed for them.

My referral work comes from the same instinct. When the fit between a client and an agent is wrong, the deal suffers. I’d rather connect you with the right person than steer you toward any one option.

How I work

Most of my work has been owner-occupied homes, the places people actually live, along with larger decisions where timing and discretion matter. If you’re after a quick flip, I’m usually not your person. I’ll tell you so and point you to someone whose lane fits.

I work to live. I don’t live to work. I think that makes me better at both.

Moving to Middle Tennessee

Kayla is nothing short of real estate expertise. As a young family (and first time home buyers) with a baby and 2 dogs moving from out of state, we were so nervous about what purchasing a home would be like. Kayla helped us find our home completely virtually via her thorough video walk throughs, setting up inspections, and generally being there every step of the way for us. Her honesty during walk throughs, her understanding of local market and her phenomenal contract writing skills allowed us to find and close on our dream home with nearly no effort on our part in just over a month (!!) . If we could give her 10 stars, we would.

Working with Kayla was a dream! We were purchasing from out of state and she really went above and beyond! The seller wasn't the easiest and Kayla went to bat for us. Very clear and prompt in her communications, she was always available to chat or even drive to the location and video the site for us so we were always up to date on progress.

First-time buyers

As buyers in this crazy market, we were told to prepare for failure and disappointment and so we assumed it would be an even tougher ride for us as first time home-buyers… BUT that’s exactly the opposite of what we got. Kayla made our home buying process an absolute delight. From fun showings and open houses to her incredible communication and prep work, she made it a breeze in finding us our perfect first home. She was patient and meticulous in presenting us the best potential homes with our wants, needs, and must haves in mind. We were so blessed to have had such a personable and thoughtful realtor during such a significant time in our lives. Thank you Kayla!

Kayla was incredible to work with. As a first-time home-buyer, I had so many questions. Thankfully, Kayla was incredibly knowledgeable about the home-buying process and made it an easy experience for me. She was also a great communicator and always kept me in the loop during the searching and post-contract phases. She was able to help me find a home that I absolutely love in under three weeks! I could not have asked for a better experience and would absolutely recommend using Kayla as a realtor.

Kayla made the normally stressful process of buying a house so simple!! We loved working with Kayla, and so did our sellers. Through the house searching period, to getting creative with our offer while still protecting ourselves, Kayla leads with great confidence and intelligence!

Selling

Kayla assisted my family and I in marketing and selling my sister's home during a very sad and difficult time. She coached us through serious offers and in the end assisted us in making the right choice. She was there for my family not only as a realtor, but as a friend. Marketing and selling a home long distance requires partnering with a trustworthy, experienced and professional realtor like Kayla Brown. Someone who goes above and beyond like moving furniture out of the home that fails to sell to prepare for the Open House or scheduling and meeting the cleaning company, power washers and painters. Someone who waters the plants when temperatures rise for multiple days. I could go on and on about this amazing young realtor. She is simply extraordinary.

Kayla Brown (Colson) is a warm, bright and charming woman, and an exceptional real estate agent. We first met her at an open house, which she was hosting in the spring of 2017. We found her to be delightfully engaging, and, as we were just beginning our quest for a new home, we asked for her assistance. We verbally provided her with a brief list of what we were seeking in a property, and she was "on it" immediately. The next day, she sent us a selection of houses on the market that perfectly reflected our criteria. She truly listened to us, and did not suggest random listings that were a waste of our time. Unfortunately, our situation prevented us from buying a new property immediately, as we needed more time to sell our existing house in Belle Meade. Kayla was incredibly patient and persistent, and never lost her enthusiasm. She ultimately found us our dream home, and successfully negotiated the sales transaction, which involved some unique and complicated contingencies, in our favor. Kayla has sharp instincts, amazing people skills, and a marvelously positive attitude. We recommend her without reservation.
